1. Chevening Scholarship (UK)

MBA eligible? ✅ Yes. One-year taught Master’s at any UK university, including MBAs.

Eligibility: Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country; 2,800 hours (2 years) of post-degree work experience; commit to returning home for two years.

Competitiveness: approximately 1,500 awards per year (gov.uk). No published acceptance rate.

Biggest catch: The £22,000 MBA tuition cap. Also: no Graduate route visa — scholars must return home for two years.

2. DAAD EPOS — SEPT MBA, Leipzig (Germany)

MBA eligible? ✅ Yes, for one specific EPOS-listed programme: the SEPT MBA at Leipzig University.

Amount: €992/month stipend + insurance + travel allowance. Tuition status uncertain — Leipzig lists a €6,000 programme fee and neither the DAAD listing nor the Leipzig FAQ states whether EPOS scholars are exempt. Email [email protected] before planning.

Eligibility: Citizens of developing/emerging economies; 2+ years of relevant professional experience.

Competitiveness: 7 awards from 421 applications across 65 countries in the 2024 round — roughly 1.7%.

Biggest catch: EPOS is a programme list, not a scholarship category. Only the specific listed programme qualifies.

3. Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)

MBA eligible? ✅ Yes, at selected Korean business schools. Confirmed example: SKK GSB Full-Time MBA at Sungkyunkwan University.

Amount: Full tuition + monthly allowance + round-trip airfare + 1-year Korean language course.

Eligibility: Citizens of ~150 partner countries; under 40; academic thresholds apply (typically 80th percentile GPA or equivalent).

Biggest catch: SKK GSB GKS scholars must complete the full curriculum in Korea — not eligible for exchange or dual-degree programmes. TOPIK 3 required after the language year.

Five conditional schemes — MBA eligibility varies

These schemes fund graduate study broadly. Whether they fund an MBA depends on your country, the specific programme, or the university. Approach each with a direct check on the MBA-specific rules before applying.

4. Fulbright Foreign Student (USA)

MBA eligible? ⚠️ Country-dependent. Morocco’s commission calls the MBA “the most competitive area” for its grants. Egypt restricts its MBA grant to non-business full-time faculty and research-centre staff. South Africa, Nigeria, Jamaica exclude MBA entirely. Amount: Varies by commission. Some cap the award; the grant generally won’t cover full cost.

Biggest catch: You must confirm MBA eligibility through your country’s commission before committing to an application.

5. MEXT (Japan)

MBA eligible? ⚠️ At selected Japanese universities. Hitotsubashi ICS, for example, has a MEXT-funded MBA student on its own site. Not every MBA accepts embassy-recommended scholars.

Amount: Tuition exemption + ¥144,000/month (Master’s) + round-trip airfare.

Biggest catch: Confirm with the target university’s international office before applying via the embassy route. Some institutions only accept MEXT students through internal university recommendation.

6. Australia Awards

MBA eligible? ⚠️ Country and sector-dependent. Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam explicitly exclude MBA and general business degrees. The pan-African programme restricts awards to specified priority sectors (agriculture, climate, foreign policy, gender equality, mining governance) — none of which include business or MBA.

Amount: Full tuition + return airfare + establishment allowance + living expenses + Overseas Student Health Cover. Family costs are the scholar’s responsibility — DFAT estimates an additional AUD 7,100/year for a spouse and AUD 3,040/year per child.

Biggest catch: Check your country’s priority list before assuming an MBA is eligible. Where MBA is not on the list, the application will be rejected regardless of merit.

7. Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)

MBA eligible? ⚠️ University by university. Tuition coverage varies significantly:

• Tongji University: Full-Time MBA requires tuition to still be paid (RMB 129,000/year) even with a CSC award.
• Peking University HSBC Business School: States a CSC grant “will not fully cover the tuition cost.”
• Chongqing University: International MBA is a full-scholarship programme under the CSC Youth of Excellence Scheme.
• Tsinghua: Requires MBA pre-admission before the CSC application can be accepted.

8. Türkiye Scholarships

MBA eligible? ⚠️ Programme-dependent. Türkiye Scholarships funds Master’s-level study at participating Turkish universities; MBA availability varies by intake.

Amount: Tuition + accommodation + health insurance + monthly stipend + airfare + mandatory one-year Turkish language course for scholars who don’t already speak Turkish.

Competitiveness: Close to 200,000 applications in 2026 against an annual intake of ~4,000.

GOI-IES and Manaaki — two schemes often missed

9. Government of Ireland (GOI-IES)

MBA eligible? ⚠️ University by university. Trinity’s GOI-IES page explicitly excludes the MBA from eligible programmes. UCD doesn’t state either way — ask them directly.

Amount: Full tuition waiver for one year + €10,000 stipend. 60 awards per year across all institutions.

Eligibility: Non-EU/EEA, non-UK, non-Swiss. Admission-first rule: you must hold an unconditional Irish university offer before applying for the scholarship.

10. Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships

MBA eligible? ⚠️ Qualification name varies by university:

• Otago — standard MBA (confirmed)
• Massey — standard MBA (confirmed)
• Victoria — Executive MBA is the international-eligible business qualification
• Auckland — on-campus MBA is domestic-only; internationals pursue Master of Commerce or Master of Management instead
• Canterbury — no MBA listed under Manaaki; Master of Business instead

Some governments fund their own citizens to study MBAs abroad. These schemes aren’t on the international-facing list above because they’re nationality-restricted, but if you’re a national of one of these countries, they’re often the strongest route available.
