1. Who we are

LearnViaHub is an independent educational website that publishes guides about scholarships, study abroad, admissions and student resources. It is operated by Christian Chinonso. Contact us at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

You can read LearnViaHub without creating an account. We collect personal information in these situations:

  • Contact messages. When you email us or use our contact form, we receive your name, email address and the content of your message.
  • Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, website (optional), IP address and comment text you submit.
  • Tools. Our GPA converters and calculators work in your browser, and we do not store the numbers you enter.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting server records technical data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type and operating system, the date and time, the pages requested and the referring page.

Google Analytics records usage data such as pages viewed, time on pages, how you found us, approximate location and device information. Google says Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses, and uses the address briefly to work out a general location (Google).

3. How we use your information

  • To reply to your messages and questions
  • To display and moderate comments
  • To understand how visitors use the site and improve our guides and tools
  • To keep the site secure and to detect and prevent spam and abuse
  • To show advertising, where advertising is switched on
  • To meet legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information for money. Advertising partners such as Google use cookies for ads, as described in section 7.

4. Legal bases for processing (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your information on these bases: your consent (for non-essential cookies and personalised advertising, which you can withdraw at any time), our legitimate interests (running, securing and improving the website) and, where relevant, legal obligations.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how the site is used and, where applicable, to show advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings. For the cookies we use and how long they last, see our Cookie Policy.

6. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, through the Google Site Kit plugin, to understand how visitors find and use our website. Analytics keeps event-level data for the period set in our Google Analytics account. To learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can stop Analytics from collecting data in your browser with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We may display ads from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to our website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet (Google AdSense Help). Other third-party ad vendors may also use cookies on our site, depending on our AdSense settings.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ad Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Google requires publishers that use AdSense to obtain consent from visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland for ad cookies and ad personalisation (Google AdSense Help). Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies or personalised ads. Advertising does not influence our editorial content.

8. Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site, and only as needed:

  • Web hosting provider: stores our website data and server logs.
  • Google: analytics and, where enabled, advertising services.
  • Anti-spam and security tools: protect the site and comments from abuse.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights and the safety of our visitors.

Our guides link to official scholarship providers, universities and other websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites, so please read their privacy policies before sharing personal information.

10. Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Contact emails are kept while we handle your request and for a reasonable period after. Comments stay on the post until they are removed. Server logs are kept for a limited period, set by our hosting provider. Analytics data is kept for the period set in our Google Analytics account. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, as section 12 explains.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct information that is inaccurate
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Object to or restrict certain uses of your information
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, including through the cookie settings on our site
  • Complain to your local data protection authority

To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity. We will reply within one month, or tell you if we need longer as the law allows.

13. International visitors

LearnViaHub is read by students around the world. Your information may be processed on servers in countries other than your own, including by our hosting provider and by Google. Where required, these transfers use appropriate safeguards.

14. Children’s privacy

LearnViaHub is not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age set by local law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
